If you love to take care of others, then a career in Practical Nursing might be for you. The Practical Nursing Program prepares graduates to provide and manage client care. Our diploma will prepare you for your licensing exam and qualify you for work toward a degree.
As a Practical Nurse, you could work in hospital, long term health care or rehabilitation settings. You provide bedside care, evaluate client needs, plan and implement care and supervise nursing assistants. Your duties would include taking vital signs, applying dressings and administering medicines.

ECTC Practical Nursing Program has a selective admission process in place for this major. Documentation of active status on the Medicaid Nurse Aide Registry or successful completion of an equivalent course within the previous three years is required prior to enrolling in the first nursing course. Progression in the Practical Nursing program is contingent upon achievement of a grade of “C” or better in each course and maintenance of a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or better (4.0 scale).
Note: The Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) may deny a nursing graduate admission to the NCLEX-PN Exam if an individual has been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony that involves acts that bear directly on the qualifications of the graduate to practice nursing.
