Students in Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s Upward Bound program recently won first place in the annual Trio Day Scholar’s Bowl at Murray State University, competing against colleges and universities from throughout the state.
The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Choristers will present their Spring Variety Show Tuesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Science Auditorium of the College. The Choristers will sing the spiritual “Ride the Chariot” and a medley from Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals
Thirty-five high school students from four area school districts participated in the second annual welding contest in February, sponsored by Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s welding program and ESAB Welding and Cutting.
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic will sponsor “Seal-Out Day” – an opportunity for children ages 8 – 13 to have sealants applied to their teeth at no cost. The free dental sealants will be provided on Saturday, March 27, until 2 p.m.
The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Multicultural Committee is sponsoring “Jewish Ritual Objects & The Jewish Calendar,” presented by Professor Lee Shai Weissbach from the University of Louisville on Thursday, February 18 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 112 Administration Building.
Tuesday, February 16 at 6 p.m. in the Science Auditorium, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will present a recital by internationally-renowned Pipa virtuoso Ming Ke. This is a special event to which the public is cordially invited, and there will be no admission charge. The ECTC Fine Arts Committee will sponsor the concert.
College Goal Sunday, a statewide charitable program providing free information and assistance to families applying for college financial aid, will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 31, at 20 sites in 19 Kentucky communities, including Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. Participants at ECTC should go to the second floor of the Regional Postsecondary Education Center.
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and First Baptist Church will hold the 24th annual Gospel Musical in celebration of Black History Month on Feb. 12, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 105 Bishop Lane, Elizabethtown, Ky. The theme for this year is Diversity in Music and Culture.
An Elizabethtown Community and Technical College student is the winner of a Kentucky state scholarship awarded to just one undergraduate student. Steve Davis, of Greensburg, was selected to receive the Carl D. Perkins Assistanceship Award.
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s two nursing programs, Practical Nursing and Associate Degree Registered Nursing, both achieved the distinction of 100 percent pass rates on the Nursing Council Licensure Examinations – NCLEX – for the past year.
