Magazines and Journals

  • EBSCO - Academic Search Premier; Professional Development Collection; ERIC. Searchable databases. Academic Search Premier contains thousands of full-text journals covering most subjects. ERIC provides indexing information only for education journal articles. The Professional Development Collection contains hundreds of full-text education journals.
  • Gale - Academic One File. Searchable database containing millions of full-text magazine and journal articles; some education journals included

  • NewsBank - access to hundreds of newspapers around the U.S., including numerous Kentucky newspapers.
  • ProQuest - Courier-Journal - choose Newspapers from the list of databases. The Courier-Journal is the only newspaper in the Newspapers collection.
  • Gale - Academic One File. Includes the full-text of the New York Times

  • ADL Curriculum Connections: Anti-Bias Lesson Plans and Resources for K-12 Educators
  • Center for the Study of Teaching and Policy. University of Washington. Research reports and papers on a range of education issues. Examples of research topics include Teacher Shortages, Teacher Quality and Student Achievement, and Teacher Turnover Rates. Abstracts available as .html documents; complete articles require Acrobat Reader for viewing.
  • Certification Requirements for 50 States. University of Kentucky. Searchable database of state certification requirements. The Kentucky certification site conveys the standards for certification by using the text of the Kentucky Administrative Regulations for each level of teacher certification. Includes application forms for certification (as .pdf files; Acrobat Reader required.) Links to information on alternative certification available under Certification : List of all Certifications.
  • Digital Video Library. Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Provides access to videos for math and science teachers on educational theory.  
  • Elizabethtown Independent Schools
  • ERIC - ERIC provides free access to more than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials and, if available, includes links to full text. ERIC is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences (IES).
  • FREE-Federal Resources for Educational Excellence. Department of Education. Sites organized by topics; subjects include social sciences, language arts, arts, physical education, science and mathematics.
  • Great Schools - searchable database; information on individual schools (socioeconomic, ethnicity, test scores, etc.)  
  • Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education
  • Kentucky Department of Education. Reports for NCLB and other standardized tests (available under Administrative Resources - Testing and Reporting.) School and District Profiles. School Report Cards. Curriculum Documents and Resources.
  • LessonPlanz. A to Z Teacher Stuff. Searchable directory of lesson plans. Organized by subject and grade level. Subjects include language arts, literature, health, physical education, science, math, social studies. Also includes links to lesson planning resources, including learning centers, games, songs and poems
  • National Center for Education Statistics - federal agency responsible for compiling and analyzing federal education statistics. Publications available as .pdf files. Statistics are provided at national level only.
  • New York Times Learning Network. New York Times. News summaries, education news, lesson plans.
  • U.S. Department of Education - includes links to publications. General categories include students, parents, teachers and administrators. Choose Select a Topic and go to Learning Resources for a subject-based list of learning resource links.
