  • EBSCO eBook collection - searchable database of electronic books. Over 40,000 books covering most topics. Log in to the proxy server to log in if you are searching off campus.

EBSCO

  • MedLine - National Library of Medicine's premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. Uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings.) Indexing only. For more information on this database see http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/factsheets/medline.html
  • CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) - the most comprehensive database for nursing and allied health resources. Uses MeSH headings. Indexing only.
  • CINAHL with Full-text - Less comprehensive than the regular CINAHL but contains many full-text articles.
  • Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition - contains nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also includes the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names

Gale

  • Health Reference Center - almost 10 million articles from nursing and allied health journals. Not all articles are full-text

  • Cochrane Library - Includes the Cochrane Library Database of Systematic Reviews which contains nearly 6000 full text systematic reviews; the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, which contains over 600,000 summaries of RCTs; and DARE (Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects. May be searched by keyword or MeSH heading, or browsed by Topic, New Reviews, Updated Reviews
  • Center for Reviews and Dissemination. University of York. Searchable database. Abstracts only.
  • MeSH Browser (click on Online Searching of MeSH Vocabulary to pull up the search engine) - a very useful search engine that identifies Medical Subject Headings and provides detailed information about usage and appropriate subheadings
  • PubMed Central. National Center for Biotechnology Information. Searchable database of articles from biomedical and life sciences journals. Many articles full-text. Keyword or MeSH heading
  • PubMed Clinical Queries - specialized database for clinicians - allows searches for systematic reviews and searches by clinical study type.
  • PubMed Online Tutorials - tutorials in searching PubMed and accessing its documents
