Associate Arts and Science Transfer

The Associate in Arts (AA) or the Associate in Science (AS)  degree allows you to explore a variety of educational options.

By following the guidelines of either degree checklist, you can complete the first two years of college without committing to a particular four-year university, a major or course of study. With advance planning, you can avoid having to repeat a course with similar content and can save both time and money.

What are my options with these degrees?

The Associate of Arts is right for you if you are planning for a four-year degree in Humanities, Social or Behavioral Sciences, or Arts.
The Associate of Science is right for you if you are planning for a four-year degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics.

How long will it take to complete the program?

A full-time student should expect to complete the program in two years. If you test into classes that require you to brush up on skills before taking college level work, or take less than 15 hours per semester, it may take you longer than two years (minimum 60 credit hours). High school college credit or taking summer courses can reduce program time.

Where will I be able to transfer?

Transfer degrees form the foundation of a bachelor’s degree by allowing you to complete all of the general education requirements for a four year degree. The state’s Council on Post-secondary Education  provides information on what you should expect upon transferring.  Our transfer degrees are generally accepted at public and private Kentucky colleges and universities, as well as institutions out of state.
