SELENA HUDSON

Senior Mortgage Loan Officer, Mutual of Omaha Mortgage

As a community leader, small business advocate and proud Elizabethtown Community and Technical College alumna, Selena Hudson believes education has the power to change lives.

“ECTC changed my life years ago. My associate degree did more for me than anything I’ve ever done,” she said, adding that the benefits of higher education go beyond the individual student. “I believe an entire family changes when even one person earns a degree. I believe generations change. You can’t be what you can’t see. Once one person earns a degree, others like them see that they can do it, too.”

Hudson, a Vine Grove City Councilwoman and past president of the Radcliff Small Business Alliance, dedicates time to a range of community causes including financial literacy, hosting an annual program called Get Your Money Right.

Removing financial barriers to education is important to Hudson, she said, noting that as a mortgage professional, she sees student loans put home ownership out of reach for too many. A passion to help others afford college led her and her husband, Michael, — both first-generation college students — to establish the Hudson First Generation Scholarship at ECTC in 2020.

Hudson and her husband live in Vine Grove and have six children and five grandchildren.
