Ben LaRue was born and raised in Hodgenville, LaRue County, Ky. He is the seventh of eight
children, which probably explains his love of working with families. His mother and father
instilled in him a love of faith, family and work. Ben's father was involved in the formation of
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and set an example of the importance of
community service. Ben has been serving the financial needs of local families and businesses
since 1994, managing more than $200 million in assets.
“ECTC’s growth has changed the future of our region,” he said. “I’m excited to help our
community connect to the college in meaningful and transformative ways.”
Public service has always been a passion for LaRue. He believes it is important to give back to
the community that has been so good to his family over the years. He is a partner with
Elizabethtown Renaissance Associates and has played a key role in revitalizing downtown
Elizabethtown and attracting new businesses to the area. He has served on many local non-
profit boards over the years, including the Elizabethtown Hardin County Industrial Foundation,
Central Kentucky Community Foundation, United Way of Central Kentucky, and Elizabethtown
Civil Service Commission.
He and his wife, Laura, live in Elizabethtown.
