A business and economic development leader, Keith Johnson knows educational opportunities and, moreover, a community’s quality of life are vital considerations of new and expanding businesses. As a member of the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Foundation Board, he strives to enhance the community’s quality of life by positioning the college to help spur economic growth, provide more opportunities to students who cannot afford higher education, and entice local talent to build careers here.
“Many students leave our area to complete their degrees, and they don’t come back. Other students cannot afford to move into a dorm in another city.” he said. “Meanwhile, there are more and more jobs in the community that are demanding a four-year degree or higher. New initiatives like the University Center at ECTC can solve a number of challenges for the community.”
Johnson began his career in Elizabethtown after graduating from Western Kentucky University. For 40 years, the former First Federal Savings Bank President and CEO has worked with businesses as a CPA/advisor or banker/advisor. During his career he had served in a number of community organization including the Elizabethtown Hardin County Industrial Foundation, Knox Regional Development Alliance, United Way of Central Kentucky, and the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce.
He and his wife, Tanya, live in Elizabethtown and have four children and two grandchildren.
