Military and Veteran Services open house

On a warm spring afternoon, the sun shines on the trees and lawn behind the main building on ACTC's College Drive campus.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is proud to announce the opening of Military and Veteran Services.  The full service center will provide military-connected services that support new, returning and transitioning military students. The center assists with their educational benefits and needs, transition to college life and achieving their academic goals.

An open house is scheduled on August 20, 2018, 1- 5 p.m., Building OTB 100, Suite 107.  Dr. Juston Pate, President, ECTC, will provide opening remarks at 1:15 p.m.  Military and Veteran Services staff will be available for questions.  The Educational Opportunity Center staff will be on site to assist with information about ECTC.  Fort Knox Garrison officials, other military dignitaries, and the Kentucky National Guard will be on site along with ECTC students and guests.

Military and Veteran Services, formerly known as the Veteran Center of Excellence, has changed its name and services to include active military, families, and all branches of service.  Military service offers a tremendous array of education benefits that are often complex to access and understand.  Twenty percent of the total student population at ECTC are military-connected students. The unique military Tuition Assistance programs require knowledgeable staff to help soldiers and families navigate and learn about their options.

Dedicated, professional, and military–affiliated staff are committed to providing assistance to active military personnel, families and Veterans.   “We are here to help our military-connected students in their journey to success at ECTC.  Students can look forward to unified services in a central location,” said Mary Ann Flowers, Director, Military and Veteran Services.

The center includes a lounge, computer lab, meeting space, resources, and amenities for approximately 1,000 military-connected students.

Students can look forward to services such as:

·         Academic Advising

·         Tuition Assistance – all service components and spouse

·         Evaluations for military experience

·         Ensuring polices and processes are in place to support the military-connected students that facilitate success in their educational pursuits

·         Transition Services

·         Veterans Affairs Educational benefits

·         VocRehab Counseling

·         Student Veterans of America

·         Resources and Referral for career counseling, tutoring, housing, etc.

·         Community center and student lounge

ECTC is a Military Friendly School and is selected Best for Vets.  The Military and Veteran Services center is another way that ECTC demonstrates commitment to its military-connected students.
