ECTC honors new graduates in virtual, drive-thru ceremonies
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) completed its 56th commencement ceremonies Monday with a drive-thru graduation on the Elizabethtown campus. More than 100 graduates participated in the celebration, which followed a virtual ceremony that is available on the college’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
“I can’t overstate how proud we are of our new graduates. All of them have completed some, or even all, of their programs during a global pandemic,” said ECTC President Dr. Juston Pate. “They made sacrifices, they adapted and they persevered.”
The ceremonies honored students who completed their academic programs in Summer 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. During those terms, 709 students earned 910 degrees and 75 diplomas, including associate in applied science degrees in high-demand career fields like healthcare, business and IT, advanced manufacturing and more. Graduates also included those who earned an Associate in Arts and Associate in Science and are prepared to transfer to four-year colleges and universities to complete bachelor’s degrees.
Additionally, ECTC awarded more than 2,100 certificates for Summer 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.
“To each of our graduates, you’ve accomplished something incredible,” Pate said. “As you start a meaningful career or continue on your educational journey, you’re not only building a better life for yourself, but you’re also building a better life for your family and a better tomorrow for your community.”
