ECTC to host 9/11 Remembrance Walk
Published on Sep 3, 2021
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) will host a 9/11 remembrance walk on Sept. 9, at 11:30 a.m. The event will include a short ceremony and moment of silence outside the Elizabethtown campus’ Fire Rescue Training Center, followed by a self-guided one-mile remembrance walk. The route will be marked with 9/11 information.
Signs along the route with a QR code for a route map will remain posted through Saturday for community members to take the remembrance walk at their convenience. Similar to stair climb events hosted across the country to commemorate the first responders of 9/11, the route at ECTC will serve to honor first responders.
ECTC Chief Student Affairs Officer Dale Buckles said ECTC is proud to host community members as they reflect on the events of 9/11.
“We encourage first responders and the community at large to walk along the route to remember the heroic efforts of Americans on that day,” said Buckles. “We also realize that many of our current students were not born when the attack happened, and we feel it’s important to educate our students about this historic day in an interactive way.”
Those wishing to walk the route may start at any campus building, scan the QR code posted and follow the one-mile route. For more information about the event, check out @EtownCTC on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
