The Jamey Aebersold Jazz Quartet will perform a one hour concert on February 13, 2018 starting at 12 P.M. The concert will be on ECTCs campus in the Science Auditorium. Jamey Aebersold is a world renowned Jazz saxophone player who is not only known for his skill as a jazz musician, but is also a great jazz educator. The concert is free and open to the public. STEM Event featuring Dr. Gerard Williger, University of Louisville astrobiologist, speaking on the origins of life and the search for life in the universe. Wednesday, March 7, at 6 p.m. in Room 212 RPCAs part of its series of STEM events, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will host Dr. Gerard Williger for a fascinating talk about "The Origins and Search for Life in the Universe." The talk, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 6 p.m. in Room 212 of the college's Regional Postsecondary Center. The LEAF-STEM series (Lectures and Exploration Activities For Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) seeks to elevate interest in careers and opportunities in those fields. Dr. Williger is an associate professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Louisville with an extensive background in astronomy research. He will meet with ECTC students earlier in the afternoon, then at 6 p.m. will make an open presentation about the evolution of life on Earth and the possibilities of life elsewhere in the universe. Williger will also discuss how modern technology has changed the way researchers investigate extra-terrestrial life today. This STEM event is the second one during the 2017-18 academic year, following presentations related to the total solar eclipse that occurred in August. Dr. Robert E. and Rita Robbins, of Elizabethtown, today presented a $1 million gift to Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) from the Dr. Robert E. and Rita H. Robbins Fund of Central Kentucky Community Foundation. Their gift is the single largest private investment ever given to ECTC.
