Elizabethtown Community and Technical College students will celebrate their academic achievements with drive-thru and virtual graduation ceremonies at the beginning of May. These celebrations arefor students earning a degree in Summer 2020, Fall 2020 or Spring 2021. Graduates can participate in one or both ceremonies.
A recent survey sent to ECTC students about graduation ceremony preferences revealed a majority desire to host a drive-thru ceremony. After consulting with the local health department, ECTC officials set the drive-thru ceremony for 4-7 p.m. May 10 in front of the James S. Owen Humanities building. Graduates must register in advance for a time slot and may invite up to six guests.
“The students being honored in this celebration have had a lot asked of them in the last year and they’ve risen to the occasion,” Chief Student Affairs Officer Dr. Dale Buckles. “Giving them the safe graduation they deserve has been a top priority, and we look forward to celebrating their accomplishments.”
A virtual ceremony also will stream on ECTC’s Facebook page at 7 p.m. May 7. with a commencement address by ECTC President Dr. Juston Pate, reading of the graduates’ names by ECTC Provost Darrin Powell and a formal moving of the tassels.
To participate in the virtual and/or drive-thru graduation ceremonies, students are asked to complete the registration form found in their KCTCS email by April 16.
