Eighth of August Celebration

ECTC to Host “Eighth of August Celebration” to Commemorate Emancipation from Slavery

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College presents the inaugural “Eighth of August Celebration” to commemorate the emancipation from slavery. Many communities in Kentucky have celebrated this event and for the first time in Elizabethtown, the college will recognize this part of history. The activity is free, open to the public, and will be held at ECTC in the RPC building atrium on August 8, 2018, from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. There will be gospel singing, African American foods, African American vendors, and many cultural events to inform and educate the community about the importance of this day. This celebration will be a jubilee that you do not want to miss!

If you are a business, this would be a great opportunity to showcase your business. If you want to be a part of this historical event or need more information, please call Pamela Harper at (270) 706-8434 or Jerisia Lamons at (270) 706-8841.
