Institutions across America have designed programs to increase students’ success by focusing on their first year of college classes. The ECTC FYE Program is designed to help you transition from doing high-school work to college-level work. This begins with the FYE105 class. This class curriculum introduces you to strategies that promote academic, personal, and professional success in the college environment. It fosters a sense of belonging, promotes engagement in the curricula and co-curricular life of the college, and provides opportunities for you to develop your academic plans that align with your career and life goals.
In addition, we implemented a place called “The Lift” with a friendly atmosphere where you can meet, study, and hangout before, after, or between classes. The Lift offers a “coffee shop” atmosphere with a relaxing and comforting environment. Come grab a cup of free coffee, a cup of hot chocolate, and a snack (if snacks are available.) We, the FYE Success Coaches, are conveniently located in office space within The Lift and are there to help you with whatever needs you might have that may be a barrier to your success in college.
Designed to equip you to be more successful throughout your first year of college by helping you gain skills to thrive in your transition from high school to college.
A 3-credit-hour, fully transferable elective course offered during the fall and spring semesters for incoming students.
No! All students are more than welcome to stop by “The Lift” Lounge (ATB, Room 102) anytime to meet with the FYE success coaches, attend a workshop, pick up free coffee, tea or hot chocolate, and/or a snack. The Lift has acomputer lab; printer, phone, tablets, or laptop chargers available; and a work space to meet with a study group or tutor.

The entire community is invited to the Week Of Welcome (WOW) event this August. There will be lots of good food, live music, treasure hunts, cornhole tournaments, just a lot of fun for all ages, come and share the day with us!
The FYE Student Club is for the students looking to make connections with other students, or returning students that wish to assist in making new students feel a sense of belonging. For more information about the FYE Student Club, visit our Activities and Organizations page.
