When Brian Robinson began serving as controller at Nucor Steel Brandenburg in 2019, he immediately realized the connection between the company’s success and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

“ECTC is connected to the communities and making sure we have teammates available to expand manufacturing in Kentucky,” Robinson said. “We’re adding 400 careers in Brandenburg. ECTC is doing a great job of looking ahead and ensuring people can train for those careers close to home.”

At the time of Nucor’s initial announcement to locate in the region, the team began developing a relationship with the college to support its workforce needs. He saw joining the ECTC Foundation as an opportunity to support workforce development and building a pipeline of skilled manufacturing employees for the future. He hopes to see the region, Nucor and the college grow together in the coming years.

Having worked with Nucor since 2013, Robinson’s work as controller includes accounting, purchasing, human resources, information technology and legal. Prior to joining Nucor, he worked in the chemical and pulp and paper industries. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and information systems at Kettering University in Flint, Mich., and earned an MBA in finance and corporate accounting from the University of Rochester.

He and his wife, Stacy, live in Elizabethtown.
