Message from the President
The countdown is on. Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s Fall 2021 semester begins Aug. 16.
Many students will be stepping onto our campuses for their very first college classes. Many others have decided now is the time to come back to college and finish what they started. Others are taking their last classes with ECTC and in a few months will be ready to start promising careers or transfer to a four-year institution to complete their bachelor’s degrees. We also have students who have been with us for a while, but because of the challenges of the pandemic they haven’t had opportunities to fully experience ECTC.
We hope all our students are as excited as we are to move forward and get a great start for the 2021-22 academic year. Every member of our faculty and staff is here because they want to help students accomplish goals and live better lives. And students are doing just that. Students who start at ECTC do exceptionally well when they transfer to one of the 30-plus ECTC university partners across Kentucky and beyond. Students of our technical programs learn the skills they need for high-demand jobs and are preferred new hires for leading employers throughout our region.
Of course, the health and safety of the ECTC community remains our top priority. Masks are now optional on our campuses, and we continue to follow state and CDC guidelines to keep or students, faculty and staff safe. The latest information about the college and COVID-19 is available on our website.
With the new semester, ECTC students will transition to our new class schedule — 8-Week Advantage. Most classes are now offered in eight-week terms. Students will be able to focus on fewer classes at a time, which leads to a higher level of engagement, better grades and higher completion rates. If you’re thinking about getting started at ECTC but will not be enrolling in classes that start Aug. 16, you may be able to get started during the second eight-week term starting Oct. 18.
On behalf of everyone at ECTC: Welcome back, students! We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish in Fall 2021.
