Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has been recognized with Higher Education Innovation’s (HEI) inaugural Institutional Award for Entrepreneuring Excellence. The national award recognizes ECTC as an innovative institution that has been entrepreneurial in developing new solutions for future success. Nominations are gathered from advisory board members and past participants in HEI conferences and workshops.
“We are very proud to present HEI’s first Institutional Award for Entrepreneuring Excellence to Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, a college known for championing change to better serve its students and community,” said HEI President Dr. Mary Landon Darden.
ECTC’s selection was based on the college’s proactive approach to leading economic and educational change through initiatives such as the Greater Knox Coding Academy, Advanced Manufacturing Career Skills Program with the U.S. Army, mobile training units, and Metallica Scholars Initiative. ECTC’s change to an 8-week course schedule and flexibility in creating customized training programs for employers also drove the college’s selection for the award.
“All of these new initiatives have helped create an entrepreneurial mindset for our college, and I appreciate the many contributions of our faculty and staff who have made them happen,” said ECTC President and CEO Dr. Juston Pate. “ECTC’s responsiveness and commitment to innovation have strongly positioned us to drive future growth across our region.”
ECTC’s award was presented Tuesday, Oct. 12, during HEI’s annual Presidents Conference held in Midway, Ky. HEI combines research, proven methods and best practices, and successful professionals to assist colleges in making the critical pivots that are essential to move an institution from survive to thrive.
