Nominations Open for ECTC Beacon of Light Awards

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is now accepting nominations for the 2022 Beacon of Light Awards, which honor African Americans in the ECTC service area (Breckinridge, Green, Grayson, Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor, and Washington counties) for their successes, exemplary service to their professions and communities, and their commitment to servant leadership and equity.
“We want to honor the African American heroes who have shaped our local communities with leadership and compassion, those individuals who serve the local communities with an undying passion, and the leaders who have fought through adversity to change their local communities,” said ECTC Director of Cultural Diversity Jerisia Lamons. “They’ve paved a path for our younger generations, and their work deserves praise.”
Nominations must be submitted by Jan. 15. Past nominees who have not been awarded may be nominated again. The following criteria will be considered:
- Demonstrated high level of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in their local community
- Serving as an inspiration and role model for their local community
- Displayed high level of excellence in their field of expertise
- Community involvement and volunteerism
- Past awards, achievements and accolades

The fourth annual Beacons of Light Awards ceremony will be held Feb. 25.
