ECTC Choristers bring together students, community in song

The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) Choristers reunited at the start of the 2022-2023 academic year, singing for the first time since the spring of 2020 and bringing together students, faculty and community members.
Under the direction of Joe Galloway, the class meets on Monday and Wednesday in the James S. Owen (JSO) building on the Elizabethtown campus from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and may be taken for college credit or community involvement.
“We open up ECTC Choristers to anyone in the community who wishes to sing with us,” Galloway said. “There is no audition required; just show up and sing.”
The group began rehearsing in August and performed a fall variety show and a winter concert, both in conjunction with the ECTC Guitar Club. They also sang at RobinBrooke Senior Living in December. Most recently, the ECTC Choristers and Guitar Club performed a spring variety show on March 14 in the Science Building theater.
Looking ahead, their next public performance is a concert at 6:30 p.m. April 25 in the JSO building at ECTC. Additionally, they will sing at the ECTC Celebration of Excellence for students and graduates in April, at RobinBrooke Senior Living in May, and at the ECTC graduation ceremony May 8.
ECTC Choristers originated in 1966 under the direction of Dr. Camille Hill, retired, and had met continuously until the COVID-19 shutdown. For more information about the ECTC Choristers or the Guitar Club, contact Joe Galloway at 270-706-8468.
