Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) Workforce Solutions will offer a Korean Culture and Conversation Essentials class through the college’s community education program. The course will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 14 and 16 in room 131 in the James S. Owen building on ECTC’s main campus.
“With the arrival of BlueOval SK, we already are seeing increased interest in Korean culture,” said ECTC Chief Workforce Officer Darrin Powell. “The community wants to show our friendliness and hospitality and this class will help them do just that.”
The class will teach basic Korean phrases, such as greetings, showing appreciation and performing introductions. Participants also will learn about modern Korean culture and create a small art piece.
Powell said that BlueOval SK has been the catalyst for other Korean companies to come to the area, including LOTTE Aluminum Materials, with more expected.
“Because the community is a reflection of business and industry in the region, ECTC is providing this course to welcome new arrivals as coworkers, neighbors and friends,” he said.
Cost of the class is $25. To register or for more information, contact ECTC Workforce Solutions at 270-706-8700.
