ECTC Culinary Arts ready to take community on Culinary Safari
Published on Oct 20, 2023
If you’re looking for something new and different for dinner, look no further than the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) Culinary Safari. The meal is at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at ECTC, 620 College Street Road in room 303 of the Occupational Technical Building (OTB).
A community tradition started more than 10 years ago, the unique buffet menu includes venison rack, bison, kangaroo meatloaf, roast pheasant with cognac and apples, Burmese python, camel kabobs, oxtail stew, roasted whole alligator, elk ossobuco and assorted sides and desserts. All meats are farmed and provided by USDA certified sources.
The event is a showcase for the culinary arts program, Professor Susie Pate said, noting that all dishes are prepared by ECTC students under the supervision of the program’s professional chefs and instructors.
“It is definitely a dining experience you’ll remember -- from the exotic menu, to the wonderfully prepared dishes, to the exceptional service,” Pate said. “We can’t wait to share our students’ talents and abilities with the community on this special evening. This is the perfect opportunity to try some adventurous fare and support some very hard-working students.”
Tickets are $75 and are available for advance purchase only at ectc.us/Culinary-Safari. The event is in-person dining only. Carry-out is not available. A silent auction also will be held at the event.
The Culinary Safari is hosted by the culinary arts program and the ECTC Foundation and is generously sponsored by The Cecilian Bank. All proceeds will benefit culinary arts program students.
