ECTC Kid's College Summer 2023

ECTC’s Summer Kids College provides fun, event-filled learning opportunities to students entering 1st grade through 8th grade. (This is the grade the student will be entering in the fall.) This year's event will host a variety of classes including: Art and Language, Introduction to Theater, Basics of Sign Language, Beginning Robotics, Baking Fun, and Ag is for Everyone!

You may purchase registration for multiple classes for one child at the same time, but each child should be registered separately.

Each class hosts 16 students. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Don’t miss your chance to register!

When registering your child:

  • Take care to note the grade level and time of each class to register your child appropriately.
  • After payment information has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation message with a link to the information form to complete your child's registration. Registration is not complete until this form is submitted.

2023 Class Offerings

Art and Language [Registration Deadline June 5]

In this art class, kids will enjoy fun and creative art activities designed to promote literacy and language development by connecting each activity with a language arts piece.  Different daily activities are not only fun, but will motivate kids to read, learn and discover. During the week, kids will learn fun ways to improve literacy, build world knowledge and boost their critical thinking skills.

Introduction to Theater [Registration Deadline June 12]

From basic terminology to improvisational games, this camp will cover a variety of need-to-knows about acting. It introduces and explores theater from page to stage as a live performing art. Participants will study the vocabulary a performer needs to know to properly embrace a role, engage with video archives of past performances, and participate in some activities and games which enhance and encourage a creative approach to character building. Activities will be modified according to participant ages!

Basics of Sign Language [Registration Deadline June 12]

Taught by Summer Atteberry, a certified teacher of the deaf/hard of hearing, this class will teach kids the basics of sign language to communicate with those in the deaf community through American Sign Language (ASL).  Learn How to introduce yourself and start a conversation.  Along the way, you will learn signs for things such as colors, food, animals and so much more.

Beginning Robotics [Deadline Registration June 16]

Build and program a robot using the Lego Mindstorm EV3 Kits. This class will include techniques for building and programming robots to move and perform tasks.  Topics include, motor torque vs. speed, various types of mechanisms, and programming strategies.

Baking Fun [Deadline Registration June 20]

During this 3-day baking course, kids will learn the science behind the art of baking, making cookies, cupcakes, and cake pop! Kids will explore different decorating techniques including various icings and working with fondant and learn basic cake decorating techniques. Participants will also learn food safety, proper measuring, and how to work as a kitchen team.

Ag is for everyone! [Deadline Registration June 30]

From animal basics and animal care to agriculture safety, soil and earth science to following food from farm to plate, this ag class is for everyone! Explore the world of agriculture with live animals, demonstrations and lab activities.
