Workforce Solutions - Course Offerings

All of our in-person classes are currently cancelled due to concerns for public health and safety.  To see all of the classes we plan to offer in the future, select a topic below to expand the list of available courses.

$99 - Computer for Beginners Level I  

You'll be introduced to the features and uses of computer hardware and software.  The course presents an overview of computers and their history, and discusses the various hardware components, operating systems and application software types with which beginning computer users should become familiar.  You will learn how to use a mouse, e-mail, and send/open attachments, make airline reservations, find a job and more.

$99 - Computer for Beginners Level II  

If you know the basics of how to operate a computer and navigate the internet, it is time to go to the next step.  This class will introduce you to file management, advanced Internet searches, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.  It will also explain other software that is available and the benefits of each software product.  You need only have a basic understanding of computers. 

$99 Microsoft Excel Level I  

Get started with creating, modifying, printing, and formatting worksheets, working with basic formulas and functions, using multiple worksheets, enhancing worksheets, using styles and auto formats, and working with charts.

$79 - Microsoft Excel Level II  

You will learn more advanced uses of Microsoft Excel to include more detailed formulas and function usage.  Visual representation of data will be explored using the various graph functions available.  Formatting of worksheets, filtering data, and much more will give you a more in-depth understanding of the power of Excel.

$99 - Microsoft Access Level I 

In this beginning database course, you'll learn how to create and modify tables, create queries, use filters, create and modify forms, and enhance reports. 

$99 - Microsoft PowerPoint 

Have you always wondered how others create those amazing presentations using PowerPoint?  This course will get you on your way to creating effective presentations that will enable you to more effectively inform your audience and keep their attention by incorporating the features of slide transitions, graphics, etc. into your presentations. 

$79 - Microsoft Word Level I 

Learn to create, print, save, and modify documents.  You will also be shown various formatting features such as paragraph spacing, tables, columns, page layout and others. 

$79 - Microsoft Word Level II 

Take your Word documents to the next level of formatting.  Learn how to create flyers, mail merge templates, and more. 

$99 - Facebook and Twitter

Put your face on Facebook!  Learn how to create your profile, search for friends, create events . . . then learn how to tweet. 

$75 - 10 Soft Skills You Need  

Having the technical skills and knowledge to execute your job is only one part of being successful in the workplace.  In addition to these "hard" skills, we also need "soft" skills which allow us to effectively work with others.  Building effective soft skills can contribute to a more efficient, harmonious, and productive workplace, as to your own overall job happiness and satisfaction. 

$75 - Change Management 

Change is constant.  All around us, technologies, processes, people, ideas, and methods change, affecting the way we perform daily tasks and live our lives.  This course will provide tools to implement changes more smoothly and to have those changes better accepted.  You will gain an understanding of how change is implemented and some tools for managing change. 

$75 - Customer Service

Each of you serves customers.  You may be on the front lines of a company serving the people who buy your products, or providing a service that keeps a company running.  Or maybe you own a company and serve your staff and your customers.  This class looks at all types of customers and how we can serve them better and improve ourselves in the process.  

$75 - Managing Workplace Anxiety  

Many workers suffer from some sort of workplace anxiety, which may cause productivity to decrease.  While there are many forms of workplace anxiety, we can learn to overcome them by identifying the key problems and finding a way to manage them before they manage you.  

$99 - Public Speaking and Speech Giving

This course provides both instruction and experience in surmounting the common fear of group and public speaking.  Emphasis is placed on preparation, delivery and mental-preparedness for using one of the most important skills you can possess when working with people.  You will gain experience in the fundamentals of how to publicly communicate clearly, professionally and effectively.  You'll also be given the opportunity to present in a controlled environment free of criticism and receive a detailed evaluation regarding strengths and areas of opportunity. 

$99 - Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence may be a greater predictor of your success in the workplace than your IQ.  Understanding that we make every decision based off an emotion is a powerful tool.  This course will include an emotional intelligence assessment, explanation of emotional intelligence, and more.  By the end of the course, attendees will have a better understanding of how they interact with others and how to better control their own emotions.  

$99 - Personal Productivity

Most people find that they wish they had more time in a day.  This course will show participants how to organize their lives and find those hidden moments.  Participants will learn how to establish routines, set goals, create an efficient environment, and use time honored planning and organizational tools to maximize your personal productivity.  

$65 - NEC Code Update ME/EE/HVAC

You will work with the new NEC Code book in this course.  Many of the changes to the code will be discussed.

$350 - Electrical Licensing Test Prep

Over 90% fail this test, but with additional instruction you can be successful your first try!  This 40 hour prep course will assist those taking the Journeyman or Master Electricians exam and is designed for those currently working in the electrical field.  You should have a basic understanding of electrical principles.  The test will cover the 2017 edition of the NEC Code.

$50 - Culinary Fundamentals

Are you a “foodie” in the making?  In this course, you will learn from a chef how to develop knife skills, basic knife cuts, kitchen essentials, use of kitchen equipment, the basic food pantry, spices, and how to season foods properly.  At the conclusion of the class, you will have the opportunity to taste the dishes you help prepare in class.

$75 - Cooking and Canning

The Cooking and Canning class will cover the basics of preparing and preserving food by canning. Also included will be training on creating and preserving your own sauces, salsas, jams, and jellies. After the first class meeting, you will be asked to bring your own canning supplies and ingredients of your choice so that you will be able to take the completed personalized product home with you.

$30 - Cooking How To Series

Have you ever wondered how to prepare your favorite dishes at home? Perhaps you would like to learn how to easily make dinner for yourself and friends; maybe you would like to bring a classic creation to your next office potluck; or maybe you’d like to make something for your next tailgate event. Be the talk of your next get-together by learning to make these classic recipes. Each class will teach you how to make something different. The recipes are easy and the dishes are simple - but each one is unmistakably delicious! Each session will be held on Mondays from 6:00 - 8:00 PM EDT at our Elizabethtown Campus.

$100 - A Culinary Date NIght

Have a date night with your significant other in a fun, relaxed environment. Our class will teach you to prepare a full meal - led by a knowledgeable instructor who will lead you through the process with easy step-by-step instructions.

$80 - Critical Thinking 

This class is designed to help you learn to assess the truth of things you see, hear, and read. Practice techniques to hone your ability to think and read critically.

$99 - Money Smarts for Older Adults

Older adults are prime targets for financial exploitation both by persons that they know and trust and by strangers.  Elders who lose their life savings usually have little or no opportunity to regain what they have lost.  This course is designed by the FDIC and Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection to recognize and reduce the risk of elder financial exploitation.  Upon completion of this course you or your loved one will be better able to: Guard against identity theft, plan for possible loss of your ability to manage your finances, prepare financially for disasters and to learn how to protect yourself against different types of scams.  

$99 - Managing Personal Finance

There are millions of American citizens struggling with debt.  A lot of debt can be alleviated if you have the right tools.  This course will provide you with the tools you need to reduce or eliminate debt, and give you the financial stability you need by teaching you the benefits of having a budget and how to build a budget that fits your needs and lifestyle.  You will discover how to understand your personal expenses, the benefits of making a budget, set financial goals, develop good spending habits, learn how to pay off debt and learn how to effectively make a budget.

$50 - Political Influences in Society

This class is to introduce students to the American political process. We will discuss how the American political system was designed, how it evolved over time, and how politics touches the everyday lives if Americans. If you have ever wondered about how the government works, this class is for you!

$100 - Jewelry Making

Learn the basic skills for needed to create an array of beautiful jewelry ranging from fun to elegant! Express your unique personality with quick easy designs for any skill level. We will be making a variety of earrings, bracelets, and necklaces using beading, wire-wrapping, and cord. A supply list will be provided prior to the first class meeting.

$50 - Book Group

This group class is perfect for the person seeking to discuss a good read or looking to meet like minded people. The cost includes a copy of “Grateful American: Journey from Self to Service” by Gary Sinise.

$50 - Korean Language

This class is designed for anyone seeking to learn the Korean language, or to practice the language with a native speaker. The course will progress from basic Korean to more advanced conversational Korean. The class will meet on Wednesdays from 10:30 AM - 11:30 for eight weeks.

$50 - Couponing 101

Get in on the coupon craze by learning couponing basics. Learn how to find the best coupon sources, organizing strategies, coupon lingo, and how to track your savings. You will leave the class with a customized coupon binder and be on your way to fun and savings.

$75 - Calligraphy

Learn the art of beautiful writing in calligraphy. You will be guided through the basics of calligraphy using a calligraphy pen and practice pages. Once you have the basics continue working at your own pace at home with practice pages that you can take with you. This class is for beginners or those who have not practiced in a while. Perfect for those who have a wedding or special event coming up, or for anyone who wants to address notes and holiday cards in a beautiful style.

$45 - Every "Body" is Beautiful

5 Part series to learn the basic concept of having a healthy body image from the inside, out.

$125 - ACT Boot Camp

Jump start your ACT! This is a comprehensive day-long camp that will help prepare you to take the ACT test. It will cover English, Math, Reading, and Science as well as an overview that will help with test taking.

$45 - ACT Prep Overview

Custom-designed tutoring and practical advice will enable you to earn your best possible ACT scores. In addition, you will learn how to relax and do your best on any test. 

$45 - Test Anxiety

Do you stress out before taking standardized tests, like the ACT? Does your mind go blank - even when you know the test material? This class will help you decompress before the big test. We will cover strategies to help you tackle any test.
