Discussion

Board of Regents

• Dr. Pate shared a summary of the most recent Board of Regents meeting held September 19-20, 2024.
• The SJR 179 recommendation to not pursue single accreditation for KCTCS as a whole was received by the Board of Regents members.

Academic Readiness Resources

• It is now at each institution’s discretion to determine whether or not a student is deemed academically ready if they have an unweighted cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Accommodations

• By law, we are required to provide accommodations for students, when necessary, to avoid legal ramifications.

Smart Plans Update

• Plans are in place to train employees in the Smart Plan methodology that is a component of the Comprehensive Advising Plan. This plan will go into effect in the fall of 2025.

Career Skills Program

• A follow-up CSP meeting is scheduled for October 10, 2024, and will include budget information.

English as a Second Language Plan

• A meeting focused on the future plans of ESL in our community will be scheduled in the near future.

College Update

• Facilities will provide an update, in conjunction with the Elizabethtown Police Department, on our procedures during a lock down.

Mandatory Training & Open Enrollment

• All employees are required to complete Mandatory Training by October 9 and Open Enrollment will begin October 8.
