Metallica Scholar strives for the top
“Being a Metallica Scholar will help me grow as a person, and it shows that I can achieve even higher goals for myself,” said recently named Metallica Scholar Zach Allen.
Allen, who started at ECTC in Fall 2024, is working toward a degree in welding with the goal of owning his own business. He works full time while going to school, so ECTC’s affordability was a big draw, as was the support that the college offers.
“The teachers have been so kind and helpful,” he said. “Everything I’ve learned here will contribute to building a business – including how to overcome mistakes and get better over time.”
Welding instructor Jesse Best nominated Allen for the Metallica Scholars scholarship for his exceptional work ethic and dedication to excellence.
“He is a quick learner who consistently refines and improves his welding techniques during each lab session,” Best said.
“This scholarship means I can be proud of myself and that I can keep striving for the top of what I want to be in the future,” Allen said.
