Discussion
Graduation Update
- Bryan Smith gave Cabinet members an update on the graduation ceremonies scheduled for December 17, 2024, 6:00 p.m., at Severns Valley Baptist Church.
- A reception will immediately follow the graduation ceremony.
- Sheila Musick will photograph each graduate as they receive their diploma cover on stage. Photos will be uploaded to her website and a link will be provided via email to all graduates so they will be able to download their photos.
- At this time, we have 142 graduates signed up to participate in the commencement ceremony.
Inclement Weather Message and Virtual Learning Day
- Cabinet members discussed the messages that will be sent out to all students and employees in the event of inclement weather and the process for making a determination to remain open, have a virtual learning day, or to close based on weather conditions.
Compliance and Risk Management Discussion
- Ms. Malorie Yeaman, Executive Director of Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance, met with Cabinet members to discuss the enterprise risk management and compliance process.
- The Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance (ERM) process includes:

- Assess
- Manage
- Monitor
- Report
- When interacting with elected officials and when there is an exchange of goods, such as food or drink, there are policies and procedures that must be followed by all KCTCS employees. Updates will be given to PLT in November and distributed to all employees.
Employees Working during Institutional Close
- Some employees will have the option to work during Institutional Close to assist students with enrollment and registration.
Student Laptop Program
- Cabinet members are exploring a student laptop program where students, who meet certain criteria, are given a laptop to use for their classes and if they earn their degree are then able to keep the laptop after graduation.
