Clinical Education Obligations
Clinical education gives the radiography student practical skills and knowledge to perform entry-level radiography. The clinical education coursework helps to integrate the classroom or theory aspect with the performance aspect of the Radiography Program. Clinical education begins in the first semester of the student’s first year in the program. Students are assigned to different clinical sites throughout their clinical education. Clinical education consists of rotations in most areas of the Radiology Department.
Liability Insurance
All radiography students are required to have professional liability insurance. A blanket policy for the school is provided through a policy procured by KCTCS. Fees for this insurance will be collected at the beginning of each semester of clinical education while in the Radiography program. A copy of the policy is on file and available for review.
Clinical Experience
The radiography program utilizes clinical facilities in several demographic regions. Clinical travel is the responsibility of the student.
Upon request, physicals, immunization records, background checks, and drug screening results are released to the clinical sites. This is a requirement for their hospital accreditation. Your information is kept confidential at each clinical facility.
Clinical facilities may require additional background checks, drug screens, or immunizations randomly at any time. This includes the COVID-19 vaccination. Failure to comply with the facility’s request could disrupt the student’s ability to progress in the program and/or completion.
As a student in the clinic, you are restricted from using any form of electronic means to photograph any patient or employee of the clinical facility. This restriction also includes transmitting or posting any such photograph or recording to social networking media. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.
Students are responsible for obtaining and maintaining CPR while enrolled in the program.
