ECTC dual credit fast tracks high school students’ futures

Published on Apr 11, 2025

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is recognizing Dual Credit Week on April 14–18. More than 2,228 high school students enrolled in dual credit courses during the Fall 2024 semester.

“Dual credit students take college-level courses while still in high school, many earning associates degrees before their high school diplomas,” said ECTC Director of Secondary Partnerships Natalie Taylor.

Dual credit courses are half the cost of normal tuition, with some fully covered by the Dual Credit Scholarship and the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship. The Dual Credit Scholarship covers two general education courses each year for juniors and seniors to total four courses for each student. The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship covers two technical education classes each year for four years of high school – a total of eight classes.

Fall 2024 dual credit students saved more than $1 million in tuition and completed 12,291 total credit hours and 508 dual credit courses.

“We see the benefits of this program every day. These students get a jump start on their future at a reduced cost, which is an investment not only in their careers, but also the entire community,” Taylor said.
