ECTC awarded $100K Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana grant
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College recently was awarded a $100,000 grant to establish the Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana STEM Lab. The innovative new initiative is aimed at expanding access to allied health pathways and improving student success in key STEM courses.
"Students face academic barriers for a variety of reasons," said ECTC Dean of Biological & Health Sciences Josh Druen. “This grant will help ECTC address those challenges and offer support to students who may not complete their studies otherwise."
The STEM lab will be located near ECTC’s allied health classrooms and will include a full-time professional tutor to support students in courses that must be passed to enter selective healthcare programs like nursing.
"Healthcare is an ever-growing field, and ECTC has a vital role in producing highly skilled healthcare professionals," Druen said. "With this lab, we can ensure even more graduates are fully prepared to enter the workforce and contribute to the health of their communities."
