Admission Policy
Freshman
A student is considered a freshman applicant at ECTC when the individual has no previous college coursework. If student has dual credit/dual enrolled/SEEK credits earned prior to high school graduation, they are still considered freshman at ECTC.
Requirements:
- Placement assessment scores in accordance with the KCTCS Student Assessment and Placement Policy.
- Final high school transcript (www.parchment.com) or GED transcript (GED.com).*
- Official college transcripts from colleges attended while enrolled in high school
(most college transcripts can be ordered at www.studentclearinghouse.org).*
*A first-time freshman may be admitted conditionally for one enrollment term without the final high school /GED scores/dual credit college transcripts. The final high school/GED/dual credit college transcripts must be submitted to the admissions office prior to any subsequent term enrollments.
Transfer Student
A student is considered a transfer applicant at ECTC when the individual has earned any college credits after high school graduation or previously attended KCTCS but last school attended was outside of KCTCS.
Requirements:
- Official college transcripts and Joint Service Transcripts (JST) from all previously attended colleges (most college transcripts can be ordered at www.studentclearinghouse.org).
- Placement assessment scores in accordance with the KCTCS Student Assessment and Placement Policy may be required to verify pre-requisite completion for certain courses.
Readmit Student
A student is considered a readmit applicant at ECTC when the individual has attended KCTCS previously and has not attended any other college since enrolled at KCTCS.
Requirements:
- Final high school transcript if enrolled conditionally at time of previous admission to the college and never submitted required transcript (www.parchment.com).
- Official college transcripts from all previously attended colleges, if not submitted at time of previous admission to ECTC (most college transcripts can be ordered at www.studentclearinghouse.org).
- Placement assessment scores in accordance with the KCTCS Student Assessment and Placement Policy may be required to verify pre-requisite completion for certain courses.
Visiting Student
A student is considered to be visiting when the individual plans to attend ECTC as non-degree seeking and transfers their ECTC credit towards their degree at their home institution.
Requirements:
- A visiting student letter from the home institution indicating the student is eligible to return to home institution and also indicate the course work to be taken during the visiting semester.
- Placement assessment scores in accordance with the KCTCS Student Assessment and Placement Policy and/or an unofficial transcript from the previous institution(s) may be required to verify pre-requisite completion for certain ECTC courses.
Non-Degree Student
A student is considered non-degree when the individual plans to only take a class or classes and has no intention of earning a certificate, diploma or degree at ECTC.
Requirements:
- Placement assessment scores in accordance with the KCTCS Student Assessment and Placement Policy or unofficial college transcripts may be required only to verify pre-requisite completion for certain ECTC courses.
