Biography:

Higher Education has always been an interest of mine because I desire to be a life-long learner and what better opportunity to accomplish that than to be in the Higher Education environment. I come from a long line of educators and it seemed a natural choice for me. My decision to pursue a degree in Psychology and teach at the college level came early in my undergraduate education as a result of overwhelming interest in those courses by Teachers and Mentors in Western Kentucky University Psychology Department. They motivated and encouraged me and commented on how my grasp of the material seemed to exceed that of other many of the other students in their courses. This inspired me to excel and enroll in more courses in the area and research all I could about Psychology and what I could do with a Psychology Degree. As a Professor, I desire to motivate and inspire my students to discover their inner strengths and abilities and to foster confidence in those. I believe I can contribute to that by combining a strong passion and enthusiasm for the subject matter with a clear delivery of course content. My overall goal is to make class enjoyable, enriching, and exciting. I hope to instill within each of my students a continual search for knowledge and learning. By demonstrating commitment, enthusiasm, and striving to be a positive influence, I believe I can enhance student ability to learn valuable lessons and be able to apply the content beyond the classroom to provide them direction for becoming mature, contributing members of society. As far as personal hobbies and interests, I enjoy being a Wife to my Husband of 25 years, a Mom and “Granna” to my 3 children and only granddaughter and spending as much quality time with them as possible. My family travels and sings Gospel Music and Ministers together. I love being outdoors and watching Hallmark Christmas movies.

Biography:

I studied undergraduate economics at MSU (Go Spartans!), and went to graduate school as a non-traditional student.  I've taught economics since 1993, so I have that Baby Boomer perspective.  I'm married to a retired Army guy, which means I've lived in a lot of different places, from rural Kansas to suburban Tokyo.  In my free time I love to travel, especially camping.  I'm also a science fiction fan.  In economics, I like the sub-field of behavioral economics where theories are put to real-world experimental tests.

I am excited about the fields of Sociology and Psychology and enjoy sharing information and experiences with students. I do enjoy teaching real estate courses and working with individuals who are pursuing a career in the real estate business.

Biography:

I am a professor and Program Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Department at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College since 2009. Having been a former public-school kindergarten teacher for 34 years, I obviously have a strong interest in young children. While teaching kindergarten, I was excited to be the recipient of the 1995 Ashland Inc. Teacher Achievement Award and the 2006 WHAS-TV ExCEL Award in Teaching.

I am excited about the field of Early Childhood Education and enjoy sharing information and experiences with my students. It is my desire to establish a meaningful relationship with students as we engage in motivating and enriching classroom experiences. It is a privilege to teach early childhood education courses and serve as a teacher to future teachers. Future teachers who will be the inspiration to young minds of the future!

I have been married 40 years, the mother of a daughter and son, and “Mimi” to four, and soon to be five, precious grandchildren. In my spare time I particularly enjoy spending time with family and friends, walking, and church related activities.

Biography:

I became interested in higher education as an undergraduate student when I was inspired by great lectures from the faculty at my university. I began my education in anthropology and ended up in geography due to the natural connection between humans and their environment.  I have studied vegetation diffusion in fragmented environments, Woodland period earthworks in Ohio & Indiana, and most recently, Welsh Celtic identity. I enjoy experiencing new places. After finishing my PhD, I spent about a year living in Australia. I have also traveled to Canada, Jamaica, Japan, The Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, and The United Kingdom. I want my students to be well-rounded thinkers who continually expand their minds to appreciate different perspectives so as to become better leaders in their careers, homes, communities, and world.
