All students will meet with an Academic Advisor prior to enrolling in class. The Academic Advisor will prepare a degree checklist listing classes required, transferred and remaining to complete the credential. They will also assist with preparing credential related requirements for your service portal.

You can reach a specially trained Military Academic Advisor at the main campus ECTCMVS@kctcs.edu, or Fort Knox, el-office-knox@kctcs.edu

Tuition & Costs

Active military and their families stationed in Kentucky are assessed tuition at the in-state rate.

Service members enrolled in online (distance learning) classes are assessed the in-state rate regardless of where you are stationed.

ECTC waivers the Build Smart and Online Fees for active military and National Guard.

Tuition rates are updated annually. This chart provides an estimate of expenses for full-time students. Not all estimates apply to military affiliated students.

Books

All students are responsible for purchasing textbooks and digital books. The cost of books for a full time student is estimated at one thousand dollars a semester. Digital book charges are located and paid through your Student Self Service account. Contact ECTCMVS@kctcs.edu to see if free textbooks are available through the Texts for Vets program. Find information about the ECTC Bookstore and book costs.

Financial Aid

Other federal financial assistance may be available for those who qualify. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Find financial aid information and timelines for applying for financial aid.

How We Award Credit for Military Training

Credential seeking students are required to submit the official military service transcript.

Upon receipt of the official transcript, the document is evaluated.

ECTC awards credit as recommended by the American Council on Education for both upper level and lower level credit. A student may receive course credit where appropriate. All credit awarded is posted to the official ECTC transcript.

Credential seeking students are eligible to request periodic updates as appropriate.

Service members not using Tuition Assistance (TA) will complete registration with their Academic Advisor.

Service members using Tuition Assistance (TA) will meet with an Academic Advisor, and then request TA through the respective service portal. Please familiarize yourself with the requirements and policies for using TA with your branch.
