ECTC to host conference for women re-entering workforce
Published on Mar 25, 2025
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will present a unique event for women who are returning to the workforce after an extended absence. “Back in Business – Women Re-Entering the Workforce,” a three-day conference held May 1, 8 and 22 at Severns Valley Baptist Church, will offer participants a series of workshops addressing the specific barriers women face when returning to work.
“We are leveraging the knowledge, experience and resources of female leaders in the community to help women rediscover the skills they already have and perhaps gain some new insight into today’s workplace environment,” said ECTC Director of Philanthropy Chrissie Angell.
Hosted in partnership with Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Trail Area Development District, Kentucky Career Center-Lincoln Trail and Lincoln Trail Workforce Development Board, the conference will feature workshops that provide networking opportunities as well as a range of services available in the region, all aimed at helping attendees find their place in the workforce, Angell said.
Participants will hear presentations on such subjects as: utilizing the skills you have; the power of networking; goal setting; resumes; and making a good first impression. The event will culminate in a career fair, where attendees can meet with potential employers.
“The job search process can be daunting for anyone but is made especially more so for someone who has been out of the workforce for an extended period of time,” Angell said. “We hope women leave this conference with the confidence to navigate this new chapter in their lives.”
The free conference is made possible through a Heels Together grant, a Central Kentucky Community Foundation initiative that focuses on leadership, stewardship and solutions for women and girls.
