Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is recognizing eight alumni and two retired employees for their exemplary work in and outside of the community through the annual Profiles of Excellence celebration.
The Distinguished Alumni program has now recognized academic, professional and humanitarian endeavors of 146 former students. Those recognized this year include Dr. Cassandra C. Best, John Wesley Bush Jr., Sabrina Edwards Coffman, Michael Curtsinger, Kimberly Baugh Douglas, Brent Goodin, Deena Friend London and Deborah Joy Boulware Murphy.
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) celebrated nine area leaders at the 2023 Beacon of Light Awards, which honor African Americans in the college’s 10-county service area for their successes, exemplary service to their professions and communities, and their commitment to servant leadership and equity. The fifth annual award ceremony, sponsored by Abound Credit Union, was held at the Morrison Gallery at ECTC.
ECTC students are now using Handshake, a free online career platform, to search for full or part-time careers, internships, co-ops, and apprenticeship opportunities.
Among ECTC's student population, 6.95 percent are prior military or active duty using Veterans Affairs benefits to pay for tuition. Thomas Hackett is one of those students. A former Army infantryman, he retired as a sergeant first class after 21 years of military service.
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s nursing program is now training students on a new labor and delivery high-fidelity manikin, Victoria, capable of simulating up to nine true-to-life labor and delivery experiences.
Elizabethtown-Hardin County Industrial Foundation (EHCIF) has partnered with the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) Foundation to invest nearly $140,000 in an endowment that will support the region’s future workforce training needs.
