Externships

Educators learn about modern manufacturing through externships.

Hear more about what educators from Thrive Academy, in Nelson County, Meade, and Washington schools took away from their experience in the ECTC's AMAP Educator Externship program. This summer, they spent a week touring in manufacturing environments to learn about careers in the field to see how they can transfer some lessons learned into their own classrooms. Participants toured LGE KU's clean energy out in Harrodsburg, KY, Barton's 1792, Bardstown Bourbon, Kruger packaging, and Altec companies. Five courses were taught to the teachers throughout the week that applied current real-world technology into hands-on skills classroom. These classes included Beginning Soldering, Motor Contols, Pneumatics, Robotics, and Surface Mounted Soldering.
