Family Scholar House is thrilled to share in the celebratory groundbreaking for its new Elizabethtown campus. The celebration held Dec. 11 at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC), marks a historic milestone for the Family Scholar House community as the campus will provide stable affordable housing for 48 student parents in the Elizabethtown community.

The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College 2025-26 scholarship application is now open. Only one application is needed to be considered for more than 50 scholarship opportunities available, and all new and returning students are encouraged to apply.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and Kentucky State University announced at a signing ceremony today a new partnership to provide a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The partnership creates a pathway for graduates of ECTC’s nursing program to pursue a BSN from KSU with significant in-person support on the ECTC campus. In addition, the ECTC-2-KSU Pathway Scholarship provides a tuition-free bachelor’s degree to students eligible for the federal Pell grant.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College celebrated the third annual First Generation Week this week, highlighting students whose unique obstacles can make it more difficult for them to succeed at college. Nearly one in five ECTC students is considered first generation, meaning neither parent holds a college degree. The college hosted events that raised awareness of the barriers these students may face and fostered connections between students and community members with similar experiences.

The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program (Aspen) has announced that Dr. Juston Pate, president and CEO at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, is one of 25 innovative leaders selected from across the country to participate in the second cohort of the Aspen Presidents Fellowship, sponsored by JPMorgan Chase. The fellows will engage in a unique year-long professional development experience that will help them refine and enact a reform agenda to help more of their students succeed both during and after college.

A Halloween tradition started in 2012 continues from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, as Elizabethtown Community and Technical College welcomes the community for trick-or-treating across the Elizabethtown campus.
